Sara Kerr- Photography Faculty
Sara Kerr is currently a photography teacher at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, California. She joined the Castilleja faculty in 2015 and teaches beginning and advanced photography, as well as a range of other art classes.
Born in Australia, she moved to California in 2008. She received her BA (with honors in philosophy) from The University of Melbourne. She also holds an MA from Stanford University and an MFA from Mills College, in Oakland. Sara has taught at a variety of institutions including: Stanford University, The University of Melbourne, The Palo Alto Art Center, Root Division, Mills College and the Brandeis School. Sara is an active member of professional arts organizations, including the National Association for Art Educators (NAEA) and the Society of Photographic Educators (SPE).
Sara’s work has been exhibited at numerous galleries in the bay area and selected works are held in private collections. She was the recipient of the Jay DeFeo prize and she was awarded a graduate fellowship from the Headlands Center for the Arts. When she is not in her studio, Sara is either photographing weddings with her friend, Dani Padgett (http://danipadgettweddings.com), or taking photos of her travels, mostly somewhere out in the wilderness.
