Screenwriting

The Spoleto Screenwriting Program will provide an in-depth study of Elements of Story and traditional Three Act Structure.  Students will screen and analyze both feature and short films.  They will learn the basic screenwriting concepts: protagonist, antagonist, objective, obstacles, flaw, ultimate test and resolution – to name a few.  Each student will pitch his or her idea for a short film.  Story ideas will be developed, in a workshop atmosphere.  From there, each student will write a full beat-sheet: each scene in the film.  And, finally, all students will write and present their own short film scripts.  Included in the class will be lectures on writing the scene, creating memorable characters, discussions on theme, plot and premise.
